- Title: Behaving Badly Home Fires
- Date: 27th February 1989
- Summary: MARK is politely horrified when BRIDGET announces she intends to stay. But the two women get on rather well. REBECCA (a journalist) sees this frumpy ex-wife as no threat at all. And BRIDGET approves of the younger woman's sense of independence and loves the bright new decor, and high-tech kitchen. For MARK it is a nightmare. BRIDGET accosts him on the stairs or corners him in the kitchen erupting with some long forgotten injustice, quietly born at the time but now angrily out in the open. He feverishly works his way through her address book, enlisting the help of Bridget's friends who arrive with missionary zeal only to leave crushed and defeated. BRIDGET is unbudgeable. Meanwhile, in their smart flat in Battersea, PHYLLIDA's flatmates GILES, JONATHAN and SERAFINA listen sympathetically as PHYLLIDA describes her mother's bizarre behaviour. PHYLLIDA adds to the chaos by announcing her engagement to a black American pastor.
