- Title: Sinfonietta - Series 2: The Free World
- Date: 25th March 1990
- Summary: THE FREE WORLD This documentary is built around a performance of Lutoslawski's DOUBLE CONCERTO FOR OBOE, HARP AND CHAMBER ORCHESTRA with Gareth Hulse, oboe and Nuola Herbert, harp. The fourth of the series in which Paul Crossley explores the role of the composer writing now and for our time. The programme is filmed in the civilised world of the Painted Hall, Greenwich, and the Banqueting House, Whitehall. These are contrasted with the contemporary civilisation suggested by the Double Concerto b y the Polish composer Witold Lutoslawski. Here, in an unpredictable world, individuals, acting freely, find a way to live harmoniously together.
