Summary:This Over The Garden Wall focuses on one of the most spectacular wild flower sights in Britain - the heathers of the Scottish hills, which are at their most beautiful in late summer. Providing a guide to the ecology of heathers are Ron MacBeath, floral superintendent of the Royal Botanic Garden In Edinburgh and Norrie Robertson, who holds the National Collection of heathers in Perth. In Edinburgh, garden designer David Mitchell suggests ways of replicating the effects of the heath in the garden, and plants man Kenneth Cox shows off his collection of dwarf rhododendrons - surprisingly also members of the heather family - from China and the Himalayas. The programme also visits David Lambie's nursery at the Speyside Heather Centre.
