- Title: Wifeswap - Series 2
- Date: 28th October 2003
- Description:Two women who have never met agree to swap homes, children and husbands for two weeks to see what they can learn about their own lives. The women have to cope with a new spouse,be mother to other people's children and then meet up with the other couple at the end of the two weeks to tell each other how it all went. During the first week the new wife is expected to do everything that the real wife does at home and to the same standard whether they agree with it or not. The second week then brings about the opportunity for the new wives to show these families how they do things and how they think they can improve the family's lives. The families, usually coming from very opposite worlds, inevitably clash on issues such as child rearing, house keeping and life style choices Narrator: Ken Lorimer Produced and Directed by: Simon Davies (Episode four) Deborah and Nigel Collinson live in an eight bedroom priory near Bognor Regis with teenage sons Carl and Aaron. Deborah is a business woman and has turned a sixteenth century priory into an exclusive guesthouse complete with landscape gardens and a swimming pool. Nigel has been married to Deborah for 25 years and owns a chain of computer shops. The Collinsons indulge their two boys because they want them to have the freedom and luxurious childhood that they never had. They are seen as cool parents and let both boys' girlfriends regularly stay over. Steve and Linda Lavin have been married for seven years and live above a pub in Liverpool with their two children; Jessica aged nine and two-year-old Mitchell. Linda is also a business woman and has been the landlady of the Hermitage Tavern for the last three years. Steve is unemployed so spends most of his time sitting in the pub with his mates drinking. Steve and Linda believe in old fashioned values and are strict with their children. Steve is a huge football fan and when he is not playing it himself he is playing it with his two-year-old son. Steve also refuses to do any housework. In this swap the men of the family are highlighted as the weaker sex as Deborah tries desperately to get full-time-drinker Steve off the booze and in a job whereas Linda has double the trouble trying to set rules for seventeen-year-old Aaron and having them changed by lenient dad Nigel. By the end of the swap Linda seems to have brought about a change in Aaron as he cooks breakfast for his parents without being asked and Nigel actually asks him to do something and will not take no for an answer. Deborah sets Steve up with a job interview which he is not happy about but Linda is spurred on by this and when she returns she makes sure he starts contributing to the income by working.
